Hir Res Aerial Here

Tuesday 2 Mar 04

This line of roughly 11 miles closed in 1961.  It has two tunnels, Badger's Oak near Gill's Green and at Horsmonden.  It is difficult to trace the trackbed in a few places, especially at the northern end.  It ran through beautiful high Weald countryside and is a great loss.  Apparently the plan was to run through to Northiam, which helps explain its poor proximity to Hawkhurst itself.  At Gill's green some of the original station structures, including the signal box remain.

Original - can you guess where the tracked is?
